but back on topic, most people that have their 1mil in gold, 250 ectos, 250 shards, 15k armor, fow armor, and whatever else, usually will go for that over priced gold with the flashy skin and perfect mods. thats why there is the rare skin. in a way anet played to the ego of every elitest by putting the rare skinned items into the game. as for me, as long as its max and i can use it to the fullest i'll buy it. but thats just me.

If people are buying these "rare skin" weapons to show off then, there wasting there money. I could not care less what W/Mo #3429375 next to me is weilding, I pay no attention to him.

You can't show your weapon off in towns. So whats the point? Knowone cares what weapon you have, just do your job and don't be noob. If you purposely gimp yourself to look good, then you need to fix up your issues IRL first.

/end rant

What does it matter if I want to use gold equipment. Works for me fine. If I want to use gold weapons / rare weapons / expensive items I can.

Stop crying and making out people are less than you because they own gold weapons. If they chose to buy them so what.

Wow collectors items are equally as good stat wise. Well some gold items look better imo

Your statement perfect items cost hundreds of play is WRONG. I can buy 15>50 gold weapons for as low as 5k. I can get gold 10/10 staffs for 10k. You can farm 10k in an hour or simply from questing for a while.

Once you have obtained millions upon millions you want to spend it on nice stuff.

Gold buys better items i.e. unconditional weapons, hod axe etc.

I think the majority of collectors items are ugly so buy gold perfect ones instead to make my characters look better.

Seems to me the only people who winge are those who cant make any gold / have no gold or are too lazy to make gold. I see NO problem with wanting the best and rarest items I can afford.

Whats everyone saying about people being at a disadvantage for using perfect / expensive items??? There are perfect ones aswell which people own lol.

Just like people where designer clothes in real life or buy luxury items people do in guild wars. My characters will always look their best (in my eyes) and own the best stuff. I dont look down on people who use collectors items or greens. Quite frankly I dont care what people own.

It's funny to start a mission and immediately you have this "people" that start spamming what they are wielding. Then they think we are gonna bow down and not laugh at them for how stupid they were to waste all their money on such a weapon.

I like the high priced weapons (skins) and I have a few, but only ones that have either dropped for me or ones that are not quite max that I found for a reasonable price. There really is no reason for the prices as they are, except that there are a bunch of people that will spend obscene amounts of money only to prove they can. So there will be people who will charge those amounts to take advantage of them.

Some like to die in style I guess.

Play the game like you want to play it. Don't look down on people who have beautiful stuff and don't look down on others who play with blues or greens.

It's all there for a purpose. If you can't stand the vanity stuff take the blue pill. Or take the yellow pill and I'll show you pure decadency.

It's a mix of vanity, insecurity and wanting to impress complete strangers online that people will never meet or see anyway (who also don't really care and go on with their lives afterwards) hehe

Seriously though, for general PvE, something which isn't quite perfect but has a nice skin performs more or less the same as something which has perfect stats but a skin you don't like.

Personally I've used collector/weaponsmith stuff, still do in fact, and then just splash out a bit on something for vanity after that.

That said, if someone refuses to use a perfectly good collector/smithy item and prefers to use a different skinned item that is quite a lot off perfect, well... fools will be fools

So... what's the OP's point? If people take looks over performance, whatever, if they want to be at a disadvantage, let them be. If they don't, good for them. If they spend a rediculous amount of money on perfect rare-skinned items, it's because there's nothing else for them to spend their money on.

I just find it amusing how people will spend an extra 100k rather than wait for the price to drop even a fraction of that within a few days (even when they can't afford it). I've seen people do this, vanity is all well and good but most people either don't know or care about the limit, only looking good....

I've seen enough people broke and owing others because they had to have the new uber leet Godsmacker 5.0 rather than wait a few days to be able to at least afford most of it on their own. Heheh leet weapons are like computers, everytime you manage to afford the latest model, something better comes out and the price drops by at least a 1/4.
*rolls eyes* GG!

(this statement and ideal doesn't apply to those who have more money than ebay farmers -_- My thoughts for them is that they should donate all that mad cash to ending world hunger.... Have you seen Ascalon lately? >_>)

Wow, that's an eye opener...

People get gold weapons because they want to own an expensive/rare weapon, not because they're stupid and don't know about greens.

This is ridiculous. A lot of people here did poorly in reading comprehension lol.

The OP is helping newer players by pointing out that you don't have to spend tons of gold to get a good weapon.

That said, Many players need or want a money dump. They have to spend all that gold somewhere don't they? Why not on very expensive weapons.

Nuff Said.

This gets posted once a week.

If you are rich and have nothing to do with your money, might as well get great items. I just recently blew 250k on Dwarven Ale. Why? I was tired of being rich and nobody else in the guild wanted it.

Now I am working towards the Drunkard title with it.

Your post is extremely valid, but you fail to realize what I think, which is that more people than we give credit to do go with greens or collectors items. Then, once they get more money, etc, they move on towards larger, "rarer," and more visually appealing weapons.

The rich will find something that they like and buy it for ridculous amount of gold. The poor will find the best combination of weapons and get it for less.

I understand your point, but please dont tell me that you're that naive as to think every rare-skinned weapon you see is sub par. The fact of the matter is that if you know where to look, you can get perfect weapons with nice skins for a very affordable price.

I have more than enough Gold rare weapons in my storage compared with collector one. I think that i do prefer getting the best of the best instead of getting 5 scales or necklace to trade for a collector one.

i use whatever I find, sometimes it looks cool, sometimes it don't.

But I been getting such good drops lately that I haven't been to a collector in ages.

Which is good, I like to kill things in style. Or be killed in style, whichever happens first. lol

Exactly, it's just another level of the game. I've beat the game, numerous times. Both of em. If not for striving for max titles and having the "prettiest" gear I would no longer be playing the game.

I'm lucky in that I think that the katanas from Vasberg & Leviathan Pits are the prettiest swords in the game as well as having the best (for me) base stats.

I also sold my Exalted Aegis when they were still ridiculously expensive and got an identical bronze shield instead.

I could afford rare skins / models, but I don't really se the point when everybody else has them... kinda makes them not rare really...
